In my articles, I always express myself in the most positive, effective way
to achieve desired results, in whatever topic I am writing about. Does this mean that I
have a perfect life, I do everything right, and I have everything I want? Well, let me put it this way
if I were
perfect, I would no longer be on this earthly plane!
I have
come a long way on my spiritual journey, and I still have a long way to go. Like you, I am perfect in my imperfection. But, as I learned from Louise Hay in her
excellent book, You Can Heal Your Life, what you put your attention on
increases. So if I want to increase my
prosperity, do I focus on the things I dont have?
No way! If I want to lose weight, do
I stare at the extra pounds and agonize? Of
course not!
As Deepak
Chopra so aptly put it, A problem is solved not by confronting it directly, but by
going to a level where no problem exists. Our
thoughts create our future, and so if we want to change our future, we must change our
thoughts. That is where affirmations come
in.
For
example, a few years ago, I had a lot of trouble as a lawyer with being late. I dont mean just a few minutes late; I mean
hours. There was a lot of stuff
behind it, such as not feeling real in the role I was in, and resentment at my
husband for forcing me to practice law, etc. etc. But I decided I wanted to change it. So I began saying I am in the right place at
the right time, doing the right thing. I
said it most often when I was late, with stress pressing in on me, sweating, my heart
pounding. I felt a little ridiculous.
Sometimes I even had to laugh, as I drove to court, two hours late, saying, I am in
the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. But I kept it up.
And I refused to criticize myself. I
had been criticizing myself for years, and it hadnt worked. So I decided to try something different.
As I
learned from Louise Hay, affirmations are like seeds.
When you first plant a tiny little tomato seed, it certainly doesnt look like
a tomato plant. But if you water it and give
it lots of sun, it will grow. And when the
first little green shoot comes up, you dont go out and stomp on it, saying,
Thats not a tomato plant! No. You water it, and care for it, and pull out the
weeds around it. And soon, you have a
magnificent plant, with hundreds of tomatoes. It
all came from that first tiny seed.
It
is the same with affirmations. They
dont feel true at first, because you are just planting the seed. But if you plant that seed and water it with lots
of affirmations, and pull out the weeds of criticism, soon you will have your desire in
manifestation.
So I
continued with my affirmation, I am in the right place at the right time, doing the
right thing, and refused to criticize myself, no matter what. One day, I was amazed to find that I was on time
for my appointments, my work was completed timely and efficiently, and I was enjoying
myself more. And it all came, effortlessly,
from that one little affirmation.
That is
why my articles do not deal with the negative. We
have all been wallowing in the negative long enough.
Now is the time to change. Now is the
time to be free!
Affirmation: I am willing to release the pattern in me that is
causing this condition. I am willing to
change, and grow, to become more of who I am.
